Ongoing Sin

Below is a message from Paul Washer on the ongoing sin in a believers life.

I would recommend that if you’ve never read the New Testament, start in the book of Matthew. Read all the way through to the book of Revelation. Do that several times and then go to the Old Testament, start in Genesis, and read all the way through to Revelation. Spend the rest of your life in that life discipline, whether it’s three, four, five, or fifteen chapters a day, the important thing is that you’re reading through the Bible systematically. You’re beginning to see how all the pieces fit together, you’re beginning to see the big picture of God and the big picture with regard to God’s salvation and God’s will. ~Paul Washer

This is the message we have heard from Him and announce to you, that God is Light, and in Him there is no darkness at all. If we say that we have fellowship with Him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth; but if we walk in the Light as He Himself is in the Light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin. If we say that we have no sin, we are deceiving ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar and His word is not in us.

1 John 1:5-10

Your word I have treasured in my heart,
That I may not sin against You.
Psalm 119:11

Let no one say when he is tempted, “I am being tempted by God”; for God cannot be tempted by evil, and He Himself does not tempt anyone. 14 But each one is tempted when he is carried away and enticed by his own lust. 15 Then when lust has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and when sin is accomplished, it brings forth death. 16 Do not be deceived, my beloved brethren. 17 Every good thing given and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shifting shadow.

James 1:13-17

If we confess our sins,
He is faithful and righteous
to forgive us our sins and
to cleanse us from all
unrighteousness.

  • Thank you for sharing this Lenny. Awesome message. We have to put on the armor of God and use the sword of salvation to cut off the head of sin before it strikes. The only way to do that is to be in the word, pray and meditate on Gods word.
